Shakespeare's classic tale about a ship lost at sea, and the mischief that follows.
My take on designing this show was to create a world full of color, texture, and pattern. Each character's costume was carefully planned and curated to fit each of their personalities. Color was a very important element, mainly in helping signify relationship between characters. Prospera, Moriand, and Anastasia are all related so I put this family in shades of red. Similiar to how Alonso, Fernanda, and Sebina are dressed in blue to show their family ties. The contrasting colors show how these families oppose one another as well. Another relationship I wanted to highlight was between the two drunken pirates, Stephano and Trinculo. These two are dressed in shades of orange and green showing their close friendship. Gonzalo was dressed in a rainbow patchwork fashion to show his loyalty to all the various characters. In contrast to this, Ariel was in black with hints of white to seperate himself from everyone and to help create his magic and whimsy.
